The Shit Show

by Shillington Education

The more we talk about a disability, the more normal it becomes.

When my partner woke up in hospital with a colostomy bag, we were left completely in the dark. No one had shown us how to work or change the bag, we had no idea about the different products available, and at 3am when the shit was hitting the fan, the only place we could turn to for help were reddit forums.

‘The Shit Show’ is the expo that we needed: a place to showcase new products and research, demonstrate bag changes and stoma care, and share real stories and experiences.

The photography, icons, type, and colour palette are all visually confronting, to bring awareness to those who aren’t aware of the realities (both good and bad) of living with this condition. Rather than being consoling or overly hopeful, the punchy tone of voice aims to connect with patients, understand their frustrations and acknowledge their strength.
