Where is the Head?

by Sherry Bin

The “Olivetti Lettera 22 Typewriter Instructions” is a revision of an old “Olivetti Lettera 22 User’s Manual”. This booklet draws texts and images from the Mr & Mrs. Vintage Typewriters. “Olivetti Lettera 22,” made in Italy, is a playful booklet that dissects the inner structures of a once-popular portable typewriter through an anatomical metaphor.

CONCEPT:
Olivetti Lettera 22 once was a very popular portable typewriter in Italy.
Since the typewriter is designed based on the anatomy of a female, the content page is purposefully designed like a person. The typewriter head represents the cubicle symbolizing a closed environment while implying a slight humor in my piece.
