Jazz Musician, Coleman Hawkins, is an expressive collage which mixes four visual elements together - total shape, alignment, closure, and figure ground. This project bridges the painting with graphic design while involving other digital techniques.
Firstly, a plain paper combining acrylic paints creates a textural surface. Experimenting with found objects and gathering street photography from outside are the sources that serve as the textural tools. After having all the fun, I apply graphic design principles to abstract them on my laptop. For example, the third visual element, closure, creates the illusion of a big shape by aligning on common edges.
