Wonder Years

by David Airey

A new logo for Wonder Years Psychiatric Services, whose clients are young and old, individuals and families. The design is based upon the idea of aquarium therapy — studies suggest that when people look at fish in an aquarium they feel lower levels of stress and a greater sense of well-being.

The mark combines a circle (representing the circle of life) with five fish (one for each life stage — birth, infancy, childhood, adolescence, and adulthood). A “starfish” emblem is formed using negative space because in every culture stars have acted as beacons of light, guiding us through the dark, similar in many respects to the work of the Wonder Years psychiatrists.
