THE OPPORTUNITY Through our research , we found the biggest pain points for parents were transition periods such as playtime to bedtime and not getting enough quality time with their kids . These insights lead us to ask . . . HOW MIGHT WE . . . Alleviate parents stress with a trustworthy smart device that they see as a tool and children see as a toy? RESEARCH To discover common pain points, we conducted user interviews with parents, handed out cultural probes to families, and explored childhood developmental psychology. KEY RESEARCH INSIGHTS From interviews, surveys, and cultural probes • Parents like to use smart devices with their children, but are wary of the effects. • Parents find it very rewarding to see their children learn and grow. • Transitions like playtime to bedtime are the most difficult periods for families. • Current smart devices for children are either too high- tech or low-tech. SOLUTION LUNA is a device created for families with little kids (From 3-6 year old). It helps to enhance overall quality time and transition times when parents are busy with daily works. • The primary device, LUNA, can be played alone by kid or with the whole family. • The secondary device, LUNA Mini, allows children to take their companion on the go. • With LUNA App, parents can customize LUNA's features, see what interest their child, and find activities to do together. LUNA is: • ORGANIC: She loves to express her emotions with her eyes, and her soft, squishy exterior makes her just as fun to play with as any other toy! • SAFE: She is a bluetooth-only device.
