The commonwealth of Virginia made growing hemp legal in early-2019. Since its legalization, over 600 people have received licenses to grow hemp and 92 of those licensed receiving registrations to process the crop. In an already saturated market, Floyd Hemp Factory needed a brand that distinguished itself from competition. The logomark combines a hemp leaf with a factory gear. Pairing with the mark is a custom typeface that was inspired by factory signage. Secondary graphics adopt the landscape of the Blue Ridge Mountains through topographic maps.
