Caregiving is a major issue for AARP, and AARP the Magazine's October/November 2018 cover story features award-winning actresses Blythe Danner and Hilary Swank telling their own personal stories of caregiving. The two actresses have also teamed up onscreen as a mother with Alzheimer's being cared for by her daughter in the movie What They Had, a story about love and the challenges of taking care of a loved one. Photographer Alexei Hay captures the chemistry and personal relationship between the two actresses in writer/director Elizabeth Chomko's film. Hay chose to strip back wardrobe and backdrop to simple whites, so the warmth of the relationship and the intimacy between the two women dominates the photography.
